I implemented a MapCanvas class to hold images that i want to position and size. see here for reference: https://xamlmapcontrol.codeplex.com/discussions/560862

the MapCanvas class is created like this:

public class MapCanvas : Canvas, IMapElement
{
}
and added to the map like this:

<map:Map x:Name="FacilityMap" Margin="2" Center="{Binding MapCenter}" ZoomLevel="13" MaxZoomLevel="30" TileLayer="{Binding Source={StaticResource TileLayersViewSource}, Path=CurrentItem}" MouseMove="MapMouseMove" >

<wpf:MapCanvas x:Name="ImagesMapCanvas">
</wpf:MapCanvas>
<!--other stuff in map --> </map:Map>

I fetch images from a database, set north, south, east, west properties and it renders fine in v2.2 of the map control.

After nuGet updating to v 2.5.1 no images show up. I am sure I am missing something obvious but i cannot figure out what changed.

Do have have to add code to explicitly load the map canvas?

You should probably use a MapPanel as base class.
