Traffic information

Aug 15, 2016 at 5:20 PM
I have been asked to investigate the possibility of showing traffic information in a WPF application that is using your map control.

Is this something you have ever thought about including, and even if not do you have any thoughts and/or suggestions as to how I might go about it?

Ideally, I would be looking for ways to maybe show roads in differing colours based upon congestion etc. though given that the map uses images to build up the big picture I am not even sure it will be possible using this kind of system.

Thanks.

While you can draw virtually any kind of graphic overlay (bitmap or vector) on the map, the control itself has no notion of traffic information or whatever data may be related with such information. The base map layer is a set of map bitmaps, so there isn't even a model for roads and ways.

In order to show traffic info, you would have to access a service that provides you with road polylines etc. and draw that as graphics, e.g. as MapPolyline.
